You know how I've been telling you how I'm not necessarily the Faye you've always known after all this time?I think now is the right time to finally tell you what that has all been about...Unlike me, Ms. Melisande has had a more… unorthodox way of being born into demonhood. But this isn’t my story to tell… well… until she and I meet up!
I’ll just let her take it from here!---
Thank you, Ms. Sievers… We’re both named Faye, after all.
It’s easier to differentiate each other this way.But yes, nice to meet you all, my name is Melisande Faye, and this is my story…Let’s cover the basics…My birthday is on October 19th and I’m technically younger than Ms. Sievers despite my older appearance and demeanor. You see, I stopped aging altogether since I became a demon… and that must’ve sounded quite odd, didn’t it? Becoming a demon? We’ll start with where this all took place:
The Kingdom of Linwell. It was there that I served the kingdom and her people as a part of my upbringing as a knight. My bloodline had always dictated that the strongest child in the family become a knight to continue the legacy. My two siblings decided that they wanted to pursue different things, but our knighthood had always been something I strove for, so it fell to me to take up my place in service to the Linwell Kingdom. It was among the knights that I met Commander Linwell, and I hoped to become one of her captains one day.I hadn’t seen her in quite some time… I wondered if she was well.
She was supposed to have returned by now.Now with all this in mind, let’s skip forward to the day I became a demon… I feel it’s imperative that we do so.It was my assigned leisure time, but ever vigilant, I used it as a chance to patrol the roads leading to the kingdom’s entry. On the way, some of the residents of the kingdom had asked me to read into their lives by way of tarot reading. It was a well-known hobby of mine, and I always had my cards with me in my leisure time. After “divining” a few citizens, a hooded figure asked me if I would be so kind as to do a simple one-card check-in for them, however, something seemed… off… I kept my eye on them as I shuffled my deck.As I pulled the card to serve as their check-in for the day, they stopped me and told me that the card I held in my hand was going to be significant for the future. As I revealed the card… I somehow felt the energy was being applied to me.I offered to redraw their card, but they told me it was perfect… and was fitting for what was to come.It was then they took their hood off, revealing themselves… As a demon that had made its way into our kingdom…I immediately stood up and, without thinking, advanced toward them with great aggression despite not having my gear.As I grasped the demon’s hands tightly in mine, I yelled to the guards who were atop the nearby gates to light the torches. We needed to make our knights aware that they should be dispatched everywhere within the kingdom; the demons were here. The residents fled in fear after hearing my proclamation. I focused on the demon with their demonic smile aimed towards me, as if I were just a source of amusement for them…They mocked me, stating that I wouldn’t stand a chance against them without a weapon in my hands, but I smirked, because what they did not know… is that I fight best without them.I pushed them away with ease as they were preparing to engage with me once more…As we held our bout, I realized they were not much of a threat, so I started becoming more aggressive, landing hits where I could and overpowering them as the fight went on further and further. It was all going well and to my advantage, however, I was too confident. That’s when the demon grinned as they glanced at a group of nearby residents, immediately switching targets.Demons do not resist dirty tactics, do they?I managed to redirect them and implored the innocents to run to safety, but it was here that the demon took advantage of an opening. I underestimated them…In what felt like an instant, I had felt immediate pain in my right eye and my right arm…So, this was how strong demons were… I didn’t stand a chance but, on the way down to the floor, I stopped myself from falling completely. My adrenaline had kicked in, and I told this demon to never underestimate a human.I got back up and beckoned the vile creature to fight me once more.
If I was going to perish here, I was going to take this demon down with me.I managed to keep up with them, but soon, the overwhelming pain started to catch up with me… I lost. I could no longer move, and the realization that I was going to die at the hands of this demon became much more imminent. As I laid on the floor in agony, the demon simply stood over me, with reinforcements from their end arriving in droves. They came close to me, stating that they would see me again soon, and left me there as they laid ruin to the kingdom and her people. I was unable to protect… What a sorry excuse for a knight I was...I drifted out of consciousness…
As I awoke, the light of the sunrise greeted me, and the pain had subsided significantly.
Yet some of it still stayed… consistent and lingering…Was I dreaming…?No… that wasn’t it… everything that happened that evening before really did occur. As I woke up further, I looked around to see that the kingdom I was trying to protect was now in ruin.I panicked and ran around to find survivors, only to find my neighbor lying at the doorstep of my family’s home… Wounded.I called to him and tried to ask what happened but… right as he saw me, he shook in fear then yelled, ordering me to stay back, and calling ME a demon!I tried to reason with him, but he seemed hysterical, convinced that I was one of them. It was then that I saw my reflection on the broken windows of my home and realized I had become one of them, with elven ears and horns… I became a demon, overnight.Horrified and shocked, I ran away from him… I was going to be hunted down wasn’t I…?It wasn’t safe for me to be around, but if anyone could see logic, it was Commander Linwell. I rushed immediately to the barracks to see if she had returned after knowing this catastrophe had happened… only to see it in ruin as well.As I looked through, there was a spot that was oddly clear of debris.
In it, Commander Linwell left a certain configuration for me. I recognized it as the code she had used with me many times before–to meet her outside of the kingdom walls to train.I immediately rushed over to our designated training grounds by the river and saw her usual settlement. There was another demon there and to my surprise, that demon… was Commander Linwell! As I got closer, she looked at me, not at all shocked to see what I had become. She stood up and saw the scars on my right eye and arm, then beckoned me closer before she grabbed a damp cloth and instructed me to sit so she could clean me up.I asked her where she had been all this time, but as soon as I had asked… it became clear that since I was the only one who knew of this place, this was where she had been the whole time… Her demonic form was the reason why she couldn’t return home…She explained that her force was wiped out in just a couple days during her mission. They expected it to be a low threat and sent only a few of our knights for their task, excluding me as she felt she would be enough to take it on alone. She didn’t expect a hive of demons to be awaiting them, and it was there that they met a grave loss. She didn’t bother to attempt seeing me as she feared we would fight one another given her appearance. With this, she felt at fault for the disaster, saying how she should’ve tried to contact me once more, so that she could try to tell us of this looming attack from the demons. The demons of this realm were so unpredictable and very undetectable…
I could not blame her for even a moment and reassured her as such.Afterward, she explained that we had become Demonborns, inflicted individuals who received wounds from demons, having their blood overtake our own and changed us into what we are now. Throughout the Commander’s explanation, I felt pain from time to time. It became apparent to her that the demon that inflicted these wounds on me was still alive. To be free from this pain, I had to slay the one who inflicted me with this new form. She then asked me what remained of the kingdom but soon after I told her what had become of it, she stopped me, holding her hand abruptly in front of me to halt my speaking any further… someone had followed me.It was the very same demon who inflicted my wounds onto me. They were holding onto a candle with a dark handle, decorated with jewels… It looked familiar.Commander Linwell immediately told me what the demon held in their hands was the Flame of Ignis, an artifact of legend within the kingdom! From a distance, the demon set the candle down and immediately charged at us, and before the demon could land an attack, Commander Linwell grabbed them by the neck and immediately took them down with ease. I could not comprehend or keep up with the attack using my own eyes. Her hair was shining a magnificent silver and her eyes glowed red like rubies…
What was this?As the demon lay defeated on the ground, the Commander then looked towards me as I was overcome with great fear… Why was I feeling so… helpless?Commander Linwell came closer, and I took a step back, afraid of her new form. She asked me if I wanted her same strength, this same power she had since it was impossible to become human once more.If I could control this like she could, I could avenge the kingdom and save people who have yet to be saved… protect them…So, I took a step forward, returning towards her, steeling myself as I told her that I did wish for it, and I would do whatever it took to attain it.As I confided my aspiration to her, we realized the demon was no longer on the floor… and that they slipped away to retrieve the Flame of Ignis behind them! The demon pointed the candle towards me and yelled a phrase that still rings clear in my head… and a portal with what looked like a younger version of myself as a demon appeared. Commander Linwell rushed towards them at them the moment they leapt into the rift! She was just a moment too late... They eluded us… for now. However, all was not in vain; Commander Linwell revealed she had managed to snatch the Flame of Ignis away from the demon.I wondered where my demon went, and I asked the commander what she knew about the candle and why it showed a similar version of me but… seemingly younger. She told me that the Flame of Ignis was one of the kingdom’s most coveted treasures that the Linwell Knights oversaw protecting. She went on to tell me that it could potentially open gates to an individual’s reflections of their other lives, but no one had ever figured out how to activate it. However, she was confused about why there was only a single portal that had opened when it was pointed at me; typically, there were countless versions of a being. We decided not to dwell on that fact for now.We turned our attention and priority to the Commander’s overwhelming strength and how I, too, could attain it.We eventually started calling this strength the Rouge Luster, or Luster for short, but the process to master it was much more painful than I had anticipated…We pondered about how I was to master it and followed the steps the Commander had taken for herself. The main point she told me to keep in mind was to allow my mind to run wild while also keeping it under control. Easier said than done, truly…Since we were distinct individuals, our processes were entirely different, and we took time to discuss the things I could do. For the first idea, the Commander stated that we should restrain myself while allowing the demonic side of me to take over, with her at the ready to overpower me when necessary… No result. We then tried to physically exhaust my power while under the pressure of the waterfall through bursts of energy that she taught me to do… No result… just exhaustion… but a very impressive beamed attack I could now utilize...I came up with the idea of the Commander inflicting pain on me on purpose while under the state of the Rouge Luster… No result, just more suffering. We were at our wits’ end and so much time had passed before we realized it.There was one thing left to try according to Commander Linwell; to seek retribution from the light in a ritual associated with the Flame of Ignis, called the Scales of Judgement.A holy act of light… with both of us as demons… neither of us could enact this ritual.Truly desperate at this point, we looked at what tools we had on hand. I picked up the Flame of Ignis and if the legends were true about its relation to the Scales of Judgement, then perhaps it would lead us to an answer.I brought up the candle weakly and aimed it at Commander Linwell. I repeated the chant I heard the demon say before, with various portals opening around the Commander soon after. With the Flame of Ignis, we were able see different versions of the Commander not as a knight but as an acolyte. Finding one that was willing to interact with demons was another difficult task…We finally found a version of Linwell who seemed much more recluse. She had explored the legends of the Flame of Ignis and sort of became a maniac about performing the Scales of Judgement… How convenient.Without delay, I repeated the chant the demon had utilized earlier, and the portal seemingly welcomed us.
We arrived within the designated realm in the dead of night. We immediately spoke to this mania acolyte about how we desired to enact the Scales of Judgement ritual. She perked up immediately, unafraid of us, and implored us to follow her with due haste. The girl grabbed her spectacles from her humble nightstand and put on her usual acolyte gown, tying a sash around and inspecting herself to make sure she was good to go. I could very much tell this was Linwell; no one readied up for a task faster than she did.I looked at the Commander with a smirk on my face, and she sighed, slightly embarrassed. It was quite refreshing to see a version of her like this! The little Linwell then made sure to turn off her lamp, motioned for us to leave first, and silently closed the door behind her. It felt as if she was more eager than we were about the Scales of Judgement. We reached the monastery where the acolyte Linwell often conducted her duties, and she led us down a pathway below the ground that only she seemed to know about. It was there where we found a large open area, with ashes used to inscribe a runic circle. I was told to then stand at the center of it so that we could immediately begin. The acolyte was very eager to attempt this. Crazed in her expression, she was excited to see if expelling demons was possible and to finally show off what she’d been studying all these years. We each took our place after hearing her… thorough explanation… and soon, the Scales of Judgement ritual was underway. As soon as her chanting began, the ashes began to glow a golden color and a wall was erected that separated me from both the Linwell Commander and the acolyte.I looked around to see a giant floating scale that shone brightly above me… the lingering pain from my wounds suddenly amplified, my breath became heavier, and this new kind of pain was intolerable; causing me to collapse slightly to my knees. I held myself up as best as I could… but… Was I going to die…?The Commander and acolyte Linwell pair looked at me with concern, but I yelled for them to continue. If I was going to die, then at the very least there would be one less demon in this world. The acolyte steeled herself and resolved to continue the ritual, yet the Commander had to look away for a moment. It occurred to me that perhaps I should embrace this other hurt… it was different than that of the demons but one that seemed to somehow give me a sense of slight euphoria.I closed my eyes and slowly stood up… that euphoria soon began to overwhelm me, and I allowed the demonic energies inside me to swell up further along with it. Whatever this was, it was feeling far greater than I ever imagined!Soon my right eye and arm began to feel like they were being healed. However, I clenched my fist and resolved to keep the scars, as a reminder of what I had to overcome.I remembered everything in my life I had lost from the demons who brought the kingdom to ruin, and soon I yelled once more as loud as I could, resolving to myself that I was going to find them and destroy them all.Once that resolution was made, it seemed the scales had finally made their judgement. The runic circle vanished without a trace of the ashes left behind, and my being glowing in a magenta aura, my scars giving off a warm light…The Commander had a look of relief and satisfaction soon after, which made me realize, that the Rouge Luster was finally mine. The young acolyte Linwell encouraged Commander Linwell and me to then use the Luster side by side. Interestingly, my aura seemed much stronger than hers, even when my scars no longer were glowing brightly.Commander Linwell took several steps back and assumed an offensive stance. She ordered me to challenge her in combat, wanting to see exactly where we stood with each other through a bit of sparring.I asked her for a moment of respite to inquire if it was fine to do and the young acolyte simply smiled and gave a signal of approval. I, too, took a battle stance and stated that I was ready when the Commander was, an air of confidence in my statement. The Commander stayed silent and simply nodded to imply that she, too, understood. We each took a deep breath, but I resolved to make sure I did not make the first move.Suddenly with an impact I have seen once before when she brought the demon down, she gained on me almost immediately. This time I was able to see it… Clearly.
I evaded, then several times after that as well. She then asked me why I was evading, which made me realize she was expecting to see what power I could output, but… I had one more thing to test…As she launched her next fist towards me, I resolved to take the hit, only to realize… it felt like nothing had happened. She withdrew her fist to see me standing with a look of determination. She stepped back immediately after and as she had done so, I closed the gap and went on the offensive. In a single strike, I knocked her back into a pillar, breaking it, not realizing my own strength. She peeked at me after such an attack and shook her arms, telling me that that was enough… otherwise, I’d bring more harm to her… and this underground area. The younger Linwell was scribbling away at a journal she had brought along with a look of manic delight and pushing up her spectacles constantly… I thought to myself how adorable this younger Linwell was.The commander then noticed my expression and told me I looked like a mother proud about her child’s passions. I blushed and simply looked away from her, smiling slightly. It was incredibly cute to me.Commander Linwell stated that this would be the appropriate time for us to get back to our realm and the acolyte Linwell encouraged us to do so, stating that she would be fine making it back on her own, followed by an extreme display of constant thanks, bowing, nodding, and fixing her spectacles while doing so.We then brought out the Flame of Ignis once again and we used it on the Commander once more to get back to our realm, as it was time to seek revenge on the demons who brought this upon us.We bid our farewells to the Acolyte Linwell who was shocked to see us so casually bring the candle out and use it with the chanting once more.We waved goodbye to the young Acolyte and encouraged her to press on forward with as much passion as she displayed today.Ever since that time, I’ve never seen her again. I hope she’s doing quite well.
Once we were back in our realm, we made it our priority to track down the demons who brought the Kingdom of Linwell down and pay them back tenfold.Due to the Luster and my heightened senses, I was able to easily find them and their various strongholds throughout the land, destroying each one until, we came across an issue…There were strongholds in various other places not within our reach, out towards the sea. However, the Commander did not seem worried and set off one day only to return as Golden Hour drew near. She said she was to lead me to something that was going to be mine once she found it. I was perplexed but I tried not to think about it too much. I was getting something and with no cost to boot.We arrived on the outskirts of the kingdom, went through a cave only to find a secret, secluded, beach! Within a nearby cove, a proud and stunning ship was anchored. It was none other than the Obsidian Odyssey, a ship that I had loved ever since the moment Commander Linwell invited me to join her on an expedition during my days as a young recruit. She walked to the helm and reassured me that it was as we left her with little wear, and that it was now mine. She then showed me a spot behind the helm and inside of the pedestal was an area where we could place the Flame of Ignis. After showing me around the ship she asked for the candle and placed it inside of the pedestal, reciting a chant to inscribe something to keep it safe from others wanting to claim it. She then asked me to approach it closely and to hold my hand up towards it, reciting another chant as if she was assigning me to be the only one who could take it out.We both tested it soon after, showcasing her inability to get to the candle despite being the one who enchanted the helm and pedestal. After all this, we brought the ship out to dock near the shores and after a night had passed and the sun had risen, it was time for us to find the remaining demon strongholds and bring them down.On our way to the first stronghold out at sea, the Commander encouraged me to head down to the dressing room which she had shown me before, stating that all the garments in there were up to my choosing now and everything there would fit me if I were to put them on. She also told me to think less like a knight and more about myself. My knighthood was no longer something to uphold but the lessons I’ve learned as a proud knight were.I nodded and made my way down to the dressing room. I could not believe the Commander kept all this in secret and in such pristine conditions, too! Within the dressing room was another room, that had such a luxurious bathtub that invited me… so of course I had to take one, it was simply a waste not to!Magic does really have its own conveniences, does it not?The garments that I felt were nice seemed very extravagant, and I wondered if they would obscure my movement a bit… but it did not seem like an issue if they did end up ripping a bit. In fact, I would think it’d be quite an interesting design if they were battle-worn… Something about them also seemed very familiar to me but I could not quite place it.With my choices made, and garments fitted nicely as assured, I went back up to the helm where the Commander greeted me with a surprised look and delighted exclamation. She then proudly stated that the garments I wore were made from Melisande weavers who were revered for quite some time before we were born. My eyes widened in awe of the coincidence. The accents and such were suited for combat despite their formal appearances. This was a case where something too good to be true was actually… real.Seems like these pieces were meant to be mine, she stated, though she did enjoy wearing each of them when she had the chance to do so herself. I thought what a sight that must have been; of the Commander wearing such garments…Truthfully, I blushed and wondered if maybe I indulged myself a bit too much…While lost in thought, Commander Linwell beckoned to me, handing me one final item. They were my tarot cards with their very own case and belt!
These cards were the ones I thought to be lost after the attack on the Linwell Kingdom.I was shocked, even more so, to find all the cards were present and accounted for!
As I put it on my person and looked to her, I could not feel anything but gratitude for everything she had done for me, and it was after this gift that she saluted me and gave me the title of Captain. She told me that I was going to receive this title when she returned from her latest mission but that it was much more complicated to give me after becoming a Demonborn. She apologized that the title doesn’t hold a significance anymore as our knighthood had been desecrated, but I told her with gratitude that it meant the world to me.
In much less time than we expected, we brought down demonic strongholds throughout the realm until we eventually brought order, being certain to only pursue the demons who wanted nothing more than to cause harm and strife to the lives of many others. Some demons were spared, under the condition that they would fulfill the Commander’s will and enter an agreement with her. That’s the Linwell Knights’ Commander for you. After the last stronghold, we finally returned to the land where everything had started… where the ruins of the Kingdom of Linwell stood still even after all this time had passed.News of our journeys soon became apparent throughout the realm and survivors of the kingdom welcomed us back with open arms.It then occurred to me that there was one more demon that we needed to go against, the one who inflicted this wound on me and escaped like a coward…We knew exactly where they were, and we were going to put an end to their vile endeavors. The evening when we arrived back home, those who were remnants of the Kingdom threw a banquet for us, but truthfully, after the festivities, I was in a state of bittersweet feelings…The Commander told me to follow her “one last time” and had a stern look on her face as we walked towards the beach. She told me that I was going to be the only one to go and take my revenge on the last demon. My commander wished to stay in our realm, to rebuild the Kingdom. She wanted it to be a place where Demonborn and those who do not wish it any harm would be most welcome.Commander Linwell joined me one final time on the ship and told me a bit more about the Flame of Ignis. She informed me that I would be able to employ a temporary crew to help me reach the last demon without her. She went on further to explain how this was only possible since she was here and that moving forward, it may not be once again if I were to travel alone.I agreed and took hold of the candle.Soon after, she stood a decent distance away from me and started to recite a chant I understood… It was something I remember her practicing in the past.“Let all your reflections become of use, so that you may prevent catastrophe in its most potent form. I beseech thee to employ them so that your journey ahead is not one to be taken alone. With this, I implore you, to awaken once more, and help them to the best of your strengths. Arise and show them the life still left in you…”Suddenly, various versions of me started to appear at every part of the ship.
They were all demonic versions of myself, with all of them representing who they were before they perished… The multitude that had been summoned to the call were why there was only one portal that ever opened. That there was one last Faye that existed whom I could save.Leftover magic from the spell swarmed around and warped the Flame of Ignis. On it, my facial features appeared, and the candle had come to life! From here, I could request the Flame of Ignis to do as I requested, even opening the portal to the last demon. The Commander introduced me to Glim Ignis, the candle who is brought to life after taking energy from the reflections who were willing to sustain vitality after they fade from their duties. With all this, I was ready to embark on a journey to another realm.Yet… Commander Linwell seemed troubled and saddened.
I made sure to tell her that she was going to be fine without me.Immediately after I finished telling her that, she held me tight.I heard her weep…This was the last time we would see each other and there would not be a way back to see one another again. This was… goodbye.I held her tightly in return, telling her she had my thanks for as long as I live and breathe, that it was an honor to be her chosen Captain. As we let go of one another, she presented me with two final gifts. One was a hat she would often wear in her leisure time and told me it was fit for the Captain of the Obsidian Odyssey. She then also ripped a piece of her sleeve off neatly and told me to use it as I liked.
I told her I would use it to train when needed and to cover the scar over my right eye if I felt the need to do so.She was happy with my choices, and asked Ignis if she could open the portal to the final demon. She walked towards the exit of the ship and gave me one last order to follow…
I accepted with no doubt in my heart and Commander Linwell left the ship, waving goodbye to me one last time before we disappeared into the portal, fading away as we went through.
Would you like to tell the rest from here?

No! I think you’re very good at storytelling and anyway, this is OUR story now. Please continue.
---
Alright, then.As we arrived in another realm from the portal, I immediately saw an advanced civilization in a state of chaos…I was near the demon. That much was clear.I told Ignis to remain on the ship as I ordered my reflections to escort me on my way to find the last demon, making sure to help bring any survivors to safety on the way and then join me once they completed their tasks. On my way there I felt the last demon’s presence fade, and, in their place, an even more terrifying presence emerged.I immediately made my way to this terrifying presence to see a battle-tested demon standing over my quarry’s corpse…She turned to me and immediately bellowed at me as if claiming that I was to fight her next.I landed on the floor and realized… this was the other Faye… with her hair wildly flowing silver and her eyes glowing an extremely bright red… a berserker state of the Rouge Luster…In an instant, she aggressively shot towards me. When we were closer in proximity, I noticed pain and suffering in her eyes; she was being tortured by a much more immense pain than I had felt. She had lost her mind… she kept repeating “I couldn’t save them!” over and over as we continued to fight.Soon my reflections came as reinforcements to clear the area and fight her back. Affording me a chance of respite. In this chance, I looked around briefly to see various people around but… most… of them… were lifeless…These were the bodies of the ones she could not save…Our reflections held on to her, hoping she would come to her senses, but nothing worked… and one by one each reflection faded until none were left to hold her back. After the last reflection’s dissipation, it was then that she stood still to the best of her abilities, and said one last thing… far different than her usual frantic phrase…It was a wish, a desire… and only one I could fulfill.I steeled myself and agreed.
In a single moment, I carried out her wish and everything finally fell silent.…She laid still, with little life left in her. Her hair no longer silver, nor her eyes, red…
Her hair returned to a shade of purple with a pink strand, her eyes blue like the sea.We really were reflections of one another…I knelt and held her in my arms and with what strength she had left, she looked up at me to express her thanks with a warm smile.I held her hand and told her I could take care of her, and that if she wanted to live on, we could share my vessel; she agreed. She turned her head to my tarot card case, and it seemed she wanted to pull out a card…I took the cards out, brought them closer to her, and got her comfortable enough to shuffle it and pull the top card… She drew the Death card in the upright position and chuckled. We both thought it was fitting and soon after she placed the deck back in my hands as her body faded, with lights taking place of her corporeal form, which I absorbed to sustain her life and share a vessel, with me…I stood up, and the sun started to rise… lights started to emerge from the shadows and survivors who knew Ms. Sievers soon walked up closer to me.I immediately knew who each one was, with a yellow, speaking rodent, closest to me along with a man with horns and dark blue hair who inquired if it was all over.I told them yes and spoke in a way familiar to them, slowly shifting my form, apparel, and voice to that of Ms. Sievers. The last demon perished, and I had saved the last Faye.Everyone seemed relieved but saddened, but I told them not to worry, and that I was going to help put everything back together as much as possible…From here, I realized that this was to become my permanent realm.
That brings us to the present day, where I am writing this story.I may no longer be a knight, but I had one last order to follow from Commander Linwell…That order was to find a new purpose, find a more peaceful life, and so here I am before you, your new Faye… if that’s alright with you…And my purpose? To share my adventures with all of you wherever we may go. You see I’m quite fond of these sorts of journeys, especially when it includes treasure hunting, good food, and thrilling combat.I hope that you continue to enjoy the journey ahead and join me wherever I may ask in specific parts of it, even if it’s just for fun.
…
I guess there is one thing left to reveal… do you remember the card I drew in front of that demon, the one I felt being applied to me at the beginning of this story…?It was also the Death card, in the upright position.A symbol of change and transformation.I created my Jolly Roger to represent that point of change and transformation. So, with all this now stated and known to you, my Hearties, let me once again introduce myself:My name is Melisande Faye, Captain of the Obsidian Odyssey…
…and I humbly welcome you to join me, wherever our journey takes us next.
